The standard gives operators of trailers guidance on use and safety, taking into consideration different types of trailers. Trailers as defined by this standard comprise of a chassis with or without bodywork, drawbar and coupling unit, at least two axles and one steering system. The standard applies to trailers used in in-house transport. For trailers used on public roads, the regulations for public road transport also apply in addition.
