This document defines the most important terms for the heat treatment of ferrous materials. NOTE The term "ferrous materials" includes products and workpieces made of steel and cast iron. Appendix A contains an alphabetical listing of the terms defined in this document and their equivalents in French, German, Chinese and Japanese.
