This standard specifies the symbols and units, technical requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, marking and packaging, and accompanying technical documents of four-ball friction testing machines. This standard is applicable to a four-ball friction testing machine (hereinafter referred to as the testing machine) with a maximum capacity of 10 kN for measuring the load-carrying and anti-wear capabilities of lubricants in the form of sliding friction under point contact pressure according to GB/T 12583.
