Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions, structural classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, RAMS requirements, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of air filters for diesel locomotives. This standard applies to inertial air filters, paper air filters, bag air filters and air filter assemblies for diesel locomotives. Air filters for internal combustion motor vehicles, diesel generator sets and electrical ventilation systems may be implemented with reference to this standard.
