Scope: This part of GB/T 30217 applies to the design, selection, operation and maintenance of marine riser systems for floating drilling operations. The purpose of this section is for the reference of designers, system component selectors and maintenance personnel using this equipment. This section relies on fundamental engineering principles and the accumulated experience of marine operators, contractors and manufacturers. The marine drilling riser should be considered as a system. Designers, contractors and operators should be aware that individual components are recommended and selected in a manner appropriate to the overall performance of the system. In this section, the marine drilling riser system includes the tensioner system and all equipment between the top connection of the UFJ or ball joint and the lower wellhead connector. It does not include the diverter. And, this part of GB/T 30217 is only applicable to work with the subsea blowout preventer group configured on the seabed. Chapters 1 to 7 of this part are directly applicable to most floating drilling operations. 8.1 and 8.4 address special cases involving deepwater drilling and collapse. 8.2 addresses special considerations required for guideless drilling. In addition, 8.3 and 8.5 describe operations under cold weather conditions and H₂S conditions. It is important that all riser primary load path components described in this section are consistent with the load classifications specified in ISO 13625.
