This standard specifies the design, evaluation, manufacturing and testing requirements for offshore drilling riser joints. Without considering production and assembly methods, joint capability evaluation levels are established and joints are classified according to the maximum stress level under specific loads. This standard is consistent with API RP 16Q in the overall design, selection and operation of offshore drilling riser joint systems.
