1.1 This part of GB/T 7690 specifies the method for measuring the breaking strength and elongation at break of glass fiber yarn provided in package form. 1.2 This method is applicable to various types of glass fiber yarns (single yarn, ply yarn, cable yarn, raw silk, absolute roving, roving, etc.). For single yarn, plied yarn and cabled yarn, it is basically suitable for yarns with a diameter of less than 2 mm or a linear density of less than 2 000 tex taken from the package. If the test conditions provided can be accepted by all stakeholders, it can also be used Determination of yarns with a diameter greater than 2 mm or a linear density greater than 2 000 tex. 1.3 This method is not applicable to glass fiber yarns whose elongation exceeds 0.5% under the conditions of standard environmental humidity adjustment and 5 mN/tex pretension. Such yarns can be tested with lower pretensions (e.g. 2.5 mN/tex or 1 mN/tex) under conditions agreed by the various stakeholders. This situation mainly occurs in staple fiber yarns.
