This part of ISO 15874 specifies requirements for polypropylene (PP) pipes used in hot and cold water installations within buildings for the transport of drinking or service water (domestic installation) as well as for heating systems, taking into account the relevant permissible operating pressure and the for temperatures applicable in each application class (see ISO 15874-1:2013, Table 1). This part of ISO 15874 contains specifications for application classes that relate to operating conditions, as well as specifications for permissible operating pressures and dimension classes. This standard does not apply if TD, Tmax and Tmal values are higher than those listed in ISO 15874-1:2013, Table 1. NOTE 1 The user or client is responsible for the appropriate selection of these criteria, taking into account their own requirements as well as the applicable national regulations and installation practices. It also specifies the test parameters for the test procedures referred to in this part of ISO 15874. Together with the other parts of ISO 15874, this part of ISO 15874 applies to pipes made of PP, their connections to each other and to other pipe parts made of PP, other plastics or metal materials intended for hot and cold water installations. This standard applies to pipes with and without barrier layer(s). NOTE 2 For plastic pipes with a thin barrier layer, which, among other things, prevents or significantly limits the diffusion of gases and the light transmission in the pipe wall, the requirements for the dimensioning stress are completely met by the base polymer (PP).
