- This standard specifies the sample preparation, test equipment, test methods, sample evaluation and processing for macrostructure and defect acid etching tests of marine steel welded joints. This standard is applicable to the macro acid corrosion test of welded joints of marine carbon structural steel, low alloy structural steel, austenitic stainless steel, austenitic + ferritic duplex stainless steel, and Invar steel. The macro-acid corrosion test of welded joints of dissimilar steels and other marine steels and offshore platform steels can also be used as a reference.
