- This standard specifies methods for the determination of dimensional changes in metal powders associated with forming and sintering. This method is applicable to the determination of three dimensional changes associated with the forming and sintering of metal powders (excluding cemented carbide powders). From cavity size to compact size (elastic aftereffect): After the compact is released from the cavity, it increases in size in the direction perpendicular to the applied pressure. From compact size to sintered size (sintered size change): The change in size of an object due to sintering. From cavity size to sintered size (overall dimensional change).
