WARNING—Personnel using this standard should have practical experience in formal laboratory work. This standard does not address all possible safety issues. It is the user's responsibility to take appropriate safety and health measures and ensure compliance with the conditions stipulated in the relevant national laws and regulations. This standard provides procedures for continuous monitoring of the precision of carbon black test methods using ASTM standard reference blacks (ASTM-SRBs) or domestic standard reference blacks (SNs) with certified values. It can also be used as a guide to find problems with various test methods. The X-control charts established in this standard can be used to continuously monitor the test methods listed in Part 2. These control charts can also be used as the basis for comparing the precision of the test methods calculated within the laboratory. This standard uses the GB/T 4091-2001 control chart method to judge whether there is a significant difference between the laboratory test results of SRBs or SNs and their accepted values. When the laboratory cannot obtain standard values of SRBs or SNs by physically calibrating the instrument, this standard provides a statistical method to ensure that the reproducibility of the method is within the range given by the precision statement of the test method. This standard applies to the precision of continuous monitoring of carbon black test methods using ASTM standard reference carbon blacks (ASTM-SRBs) or domestic standard reference carbon blacks (SNs).
