This specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of sheet and strip 0.0015 to 0.100 inch (0.038 to 2.54 mm) in nominal thickness. These products have been used typically for parts such as springs requiring corrosion resistance and high strength up to 600 °F (316 °C), but usage is not limited to such applications. Strength of these cold-worked products will be impaired if parts require welding during fabrication. Certain design and processing procedures may causes these products to become subject to stress-corrosion cracking; SAE ARP 1110 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
