Scope

This Part specifies the dimensions, general requirements and test methods of sockets for dual in-line integrated circuits (see the provisions in IEC 60191-2:1966, such as A-50). Sockets include standard type (see Figure 6 and Figure 7) and small shell type (see Figure 8 and Figure 9). This section applies to sockets with through-board insertion terminals intended to be used in printed boards with a basic grid of 2.54 mm (0.1 in) in compliance with GB/T 1360-1998. Small shell receptacles are mountable side-to-side and end-to-end on a 2.54mm (0.1 in) grid. This section does not include burn-in sockets for testing.
