Scope: This part covers 8-position connector assemblies with 4, 6 or 8 contacts for a series of fixed and free connectors. These connectors have common mating features, different mounting configurations and termination types. Fixed connectors are available with terminations suitable for soldering, insulation displacement, threaded, crimp, insulation displacement, printed board mount and floating leads. Free connectors have crimp, insulation displacement and insulation displacement terminations and can be assembled with cables with flexible, stranded or solid conductors. But currently, free connectors only have limited terminal types and specifications.
