The guideline applies to the touchscreen-specific design of dialogues for electronically controlled machines in industrial use. The design recommendations given in the guideline focus on touchscreen use with the finger. A touchscreen-based user interface designed for interaction by means of the finger will mostly also be suitable for use with other contact elements such as a stylus. Mobile touchscreen-based systems (like, e.g., in handheld computers, or in traffic control and cockpit technology) will, to some extent, differ in their design requirements, and will not be dealt with in the guideline.
