Properly securing cargoes when LTL loads are being transported, especially in the case of transportation of consolidated loads (see Note), still represents a considerable challenge for the responsible company, driver and vehicle loaders. This is primarily due to the heterogeneity of these cargoes which consist mainly of individualized unit loads (an item of cargo made up of a single or several LTLs and which, as it passes down the transportation chain or through goods distribution, is transported, handled and/or stored as a whole) which during transportation may even be handled on a piece by piece basis and which are not grouped together into larger load units.
