Loads need to be secured on transportation vehicles not only to protect the life and health of persons and animals but also to prevent damage to cargo. This guideline describes selecting, handling, using and inspecting reusable lashings as per DIN EN 12195- 2 to -4, and also the corresponding documentation and replacement criteria. Basically the relevant guidelines and standards relating to securing cargos will apply in order that cargo can be transported safely and securely. The hazards which may arise when lashings are used in accordance with regulations are listed in the various parts of DIN EN 12195 onw. Appendix B of the aforementioned standard also includes instructions on the use and maintenance of lashings.
