The guideline applies to the allocation and invoicing of costs for water supply and wastewater installations in buildings with more than one user unit. It does not take into account the energy cost for water heating. These will be dealt with in other parts of the guideline VDI 2077. The guideline describes the application of consumption-metering equipment in such a way as to make the allocation of water cost plausible. The guideline is applicable to all types of water such as drinking water, hot water, service water (see VDI 2070), wastewater, rainwater, for which consumption-based cost allocation is desired.
