This standard specifies a sample-based method for determining statistical tolerance intervals. A statistical tolerance interval is an interval that contains at least a specified proportion of the population at a given confidence level. The statistical tolerance interval can be two-sided or one-sided, and the endpoint of the interval is called the statistical tolerance limit, also known as the natural limit of the process.
