This International Standard gives procedures for establishing tolerance intervals that include at least a specified proportion of the population with a certain level of confidence. This standard considers the determination of one-sided and two-sided statistical tolerance intervals. There are two determination methods given. Among them, the parametric method is suitable for the situation where the characteristics under study are subject to a normal distribution, and the distribution-free method is suitable for those who only know that the distribution is continuous situation.
