This standard specifies the classification and designation, order content, size, shape, weight and allowable deviation, requirements, inspection and test, packaging, marking and quality certificate of structural steel for marine engineering. This standard is applicable to the manufacture of steel plates with a thickness not greater than 150 mm, steel strips with a thickness not greater than 25.4 mm, shear plates and steel shapes with a thickness or diameter not greater than 50 mm for ships, fishing vessels and marine engineering structures used in oceangoing, coastal and inland navigation areas. (hereinafter referred to as steel).
