- This standard specifies the product classification and naming, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, transportation, storage and other requirements for central tube communication outdoor optical cables. This standard applies to filled outdoor optical cables for communications and dry outdoor optical cables for access networks and premises networks using conventional laying methods such as pipelines, direct burials, tunnels, and non-self-supporting overheads. This standard does not apply to optical fiber ribbon cables, optical cables laid by air blowing, optical cables laid in micro-troughs on roads, underwater and drainage pipes.
