Scope
Within the basic scope described in GB/T 17971.1, this part of GB/T 17971 specifies the letter assignment of the number partition ZN0 of the keypad numbers zero to nine "1-2-3" layout. The layout specified in this standard is intended to use letters instead of numbers for information technology equipment keyboards suitable for the retention of numerical information. On keyboards that also include an alphanumeric field, letters shall not be used in the numeric partition ZN0 to retain numerical information. Using two different sets of alphanumeric symbols in different ways can cause confusion for keyboard users.
