This standard is based on the signal transmitted by the fire alarm detection system to the elevator control system, and specifies the special requirements and safety rules to ensure the characteristics of the elevator in the event of a fire in a building. This standard applies to new passenger elevators and freight elevators. For passenger elevators and freight elevators in use, this standard can also be used as a basis for improving safety. This standard gives a variety of options for elevator control in the event of a building fire. This standard does not apply to the following situations: firefighter lifts that remain in use in the event of fire; lifts used for evacuation of people in buildings; fires in shafts.
