1.1 This standard specifies the safety rules to be observed in the manufacture and installation of permanently installed new hydraulic lifts. This standard applies to hydraulic elevators whose car is supported by hydraulic cylinders or suspended by wire ropes or chains and runs between guide rails with an inclination of no more than 150° from the vertical plane, and is used to transport passengers or goods to designated landings. 1.2 In addition to the requirements of this standard, supplementary requirements under special circumstances (potentially explosive atmospheres, harsh weather conditions, seismic conditions, transportation of dangerous goods, etc.) should be considered. 1.3 This standard does not apply to: a) Elevators with drive modes other than those described in 1.1. b) Hydraulic elevators installed in places where hydraulic elevators are not permitted in existing buildings. c) Hydraulic elevators that were installed before the implementation of this standard and have undergone significant transformation. d) Lifting equipment, such as chain bucket elevators, mine elevators, stage elevators, equipment with automatic cages and hoppers, construction and public works site lifts, marine lifts, offshore mining or drilling platforms, construction and maintenance equipment. e) Hydraulic elevators with an inclination greater than 15° to the vertical. f) Safety during transport, installation, repair and dismantling of hydraulic lifts. g) Hydraulic elevators with a rated speed greater than 1 m/s. Noise and vibration issues are not discussed in this standard, as these issues are not relevant to the safe use of hydraulic elevators. 1.4 This standard does not address the necessary additional requirements for the use of hydraulic lifts in fire situations.
