Scope
This standard specifies two accelerated corrosion test methods: method A and method B, to compare and evaluate the corrosion resistance of metal materials with or without permanent or temporary corrosion protection in outdoor salt pollution/acid rain environments. The standard also specifies the test equipment. These two test methods consist of cyclic exposure of specimens to acidic salt spray, "dry" and "wet" test conditions. Compared with the traditional accelerated corrosion test, such as the neutral salt spray test (NSS) specified in GB/T 10125-1997, the biggest advantage of this test is that it can better simulate the corrosion that occurs in outdoor salt pollution/acid rain environments. corrosion. Both methods are also very useful for evaluating apparent corrosion. Method A applies to: metals and their alloys; - metallic coatings (cathode coatings); anodic oxidation coatings; - organic coatings on metallic materials. Method B applies to: — anodic coatings on steel sheets; — anodic coatings on steel sheets with conversion coatings.
