This part of GB/T 16902 specifies the main principles for forming the original shape symbols of graphic symbols for equipment. According to the meaning to be expressed by the original shape symbol, this part not only contains the design rules of graphics (such as shape and size), but also contains the drafting rules of related words. This standard applies to graphic symbols for the following purposes: - to identify equipment or its components (for example, controllers or displays); - to indicate functional status or function (for example, on, off, alarm); - to indicate connections (for example, , terminals, filling points); - provide information on the packaging (for example, identification of contents, handling instructions); - provide operating instructions for the equipment (for example, limitations of use). This section does not apply to the original symbols in the following areas: - Safety signs; - Drawings and diagrams; - Technical documents; - Public information.
