- Scope
- This standard specifies the conditions for reproducible and comparable measurement results of the maximum sound pressure level of air noise for motor yachts with a hull length not greater than 24 m, including motor yachts, stern drive boats, personal watercraft (PWC) and outboards for use with standard boats. It also specifies the type tests of outboard motor drives and outboard motors with complete exhaust systems based on standard boats. If it is required to determine the sound exposure level in addition to the maximum sound pressure level, the procedure specified in Appendix A shall be followed. The accuracy level of the sound test procedure specified in this standard is the engineering level defined in ISO 12001-1996 (Class 2 ). See Chapter 6.
