Scope
1.1 This standard specifies the dose measurement involved in installation confirmation, operation confirmation, performance confirmation (IQ, OQ and PQ) and daily processing in order to ensure that all products receive the dose required to produce the expected radiation effect in electron beam radiation processing procedures, and other procedures that may affect these processes and are used to monitor absorbed doses in products. 1.2 The energy range of electron beams applicable to this standard: 300keV~25MeV. 1.3 Dose measurement is only one part of the total quality management of irradiation processing. In special applications such as radiation sterilization of medical and health care products and food preservation, other measurements are required in addition to dosimetry. 1.4 ISO and ASTM have published specific standards applicable to food irradiation and healthcare products. See ISO/ASTM 51431 for specific standards for food irradiation, and GB 18280 for specific standards for radiation sterilization of medical and healthcare products. In use, the provisions of GB 18280 take precedence over the provisions of other standards. 1.5 This standard does not address safety issues related to use. The user of this standard is responsible for establishing applicable safety and health standards and determining applicable limitations prior to use.
