This section applies to all machinery (fixed and mobile) that must have fixed access facilities. The purpose of this section is to define the general requirements for safe entry into the machines mentioned in GB/T 15706.2. GB 17888.1 gives suggestions on the correct selection of access facilities when access to the machine is required and cannot be accessed directly from the ground or floor. This section applies to fixed vertical ladders as machine parts. This section may also apply to means for access to machinery installed in a building as part of the building, provided that the principal function of this part of the building is to provide means of access to the machinery. This section also applies to straight ladders that are not permanently fixed to the machine and that may need to be removed or moved to the side for certain operations on the machine (for example: changing tools on a large press).
