Scope

This standard specifies general requirements for safety devices whose main objective is to prevent falls and slips. This standard applies to fixed installations designed for pedestrians to enter stationary machinery or mobile machinery. If horizontal access is used in combination with special access facilities such as emergency exits or disabled access, some additional requirements may apply in addition to this standard.
