Scope: This International Standard specifies a method for determining resolving power by measuring the size of the smallest recognizable detail in microforms. This standard gives the test pattern and the ISO No. 2 resolution test chart, and gives the method of expressing the resolution. The ISO No. 2 resolution test chart is suitable for use as part of the test target, as required by other standards concerning microphotography. This standard applies to the determination of the resolution of micrographic systems consisting of cameras, film and processing techniques, and the resolution achieved in microforms produced by such systems. In the latter case, it is not suitable for determining the resolution of readers, reading copiers, or computer output microform (COM) imaging systems.
