- This standard specifies the method for determining the mass per unit area of hot-dip galvanized coatings on ferrous metal materials. This standard requires accurate calculation of the surface area of the specimen. Therefore, this standard is suitable for specimens whose surface area can be easily determined. If the sample is too heavy to implement the requirements in Chapter 5 of this standard, other methods should be used to measure the quality of the hot-dip galvanized layer.
