Scope: This part of GB/T 21978 specifies the classification and composition, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and signs, instructions for use, packaging, transportation and storage of snow-melting rain and snow gauges (hereinafter referred to as rain and snow gauges). This standard applies to rain and snow gauges that automatically measure precipitation (rain, snow, sleet) after melting snow into a liquid state by means of heating or antifreeze. This standard does not apply to snow gauges that measure snowfall directly without melting the snow.
