- Scope
- This standard specifies the annex requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of electro-sensitive protective equipment (ESPE) for mechanical safety protection using active optoelectronic diffuse reflectance devices (AOPDDRs) for sensing functions. Special attention is given to those requirements to ensure that the device achieves suitable safety performance. ESPE can include some optional security functions, and the requirements for optional functions are given in Appendix A of this Part and Appendix A of GB/T 19436.1-2004. This part is limited to the function of the ESPE and does not prescribe the size or structure of the detection area and the layout of the hazardous parts in any particular application, nor does it prescribe the hazardous states constituting any machinery. This section does not apply to AOPDDRs with radiation wavelengths outside the range of 820nm to 946nm, and those AOPDDRs that do not emit light by themselves. For sensing devices using radiation wavelengths outside this range, this section may serve as a guide. In addition, this part does not apply to AOPDDRs whose nominal detection capability is outside the range of 50mm to 100mm. This section may be relevant to those non-personal protection applications. This section does not deal with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) emission requirements. Those optoelectronic devices that only have one-dimensional, point light source distance measurement, such as proximity switches, are also outside the scope of this part of the discussion.
