This part of GB 7000 specifies the safety requirements for lamp strings with a power supply voltage not exceeding 250 V, for indoor or outdoor use, series or parallel, and series-parallel incandescent lamp combinations. Note 1: A Christmas tree light chain is an example of a series or series-parallel light chain. A string light for a piste or promenade is an example of a string with parallel lights. Note 2: For lamp strings equipped with plug-in lampholders, the corresponding requirements of this standard apply. Note 3: In some countries, the term "chains" is replaced by "strings". Note 4: For light chains using non-standard lamps (for example: plug-in lamps), the lamps are considered as part of the light chain and included in the test (if any, in the certificate).
