- This standard specifies the physical medium dependent (PMD) sublayer, coordination sublayer (RS), multipoint control protocol (MPCP), dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) and quality of service (QoS) of the Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) system. , multicast control, security, operations management and maintenance (OAM), and protocol interoperability requirements at the business layer. Requirements for equipment types of optical line terminals (OLT) and optical network units (ONU) in EPON systems are outside the scope of this standard. This standard applies to EPON systems in public telecommunications network environments, and private telecommunications networks can also be used with reference.
