This part of GB/T 6115 is applicable to the protective equipment for series capacitor banks with each phase above 10Mvar. Protection equipment refers to the devices and auxiliary equipment in the main circuit of the series capacitor device. It is a part of the series capacitor device, but it is installed outside the series capacitor. The requirements for series capacitors are given by GB/T 6115.1-1998, and 1.3 and 7.6 of GB/T 6115.1-1998 mention protective equipment. The protective equipment involved in this standard includes the following items: - overvoltage protector; - protective spark gap; - non-linear resistor (varistor); - bypass circuit breaker; - isolating switch; ——Current limiting damping equipment; ——Discharging reactor; ——Potential transformer; ——Current transformer; ——Signal column; ——Relay protection, control equipment and platform-ground communication equipment. see picture 1. Chapter 3 presents the principles involved in the use and operation of series capacitors. Examples of fault conditions are given in Chapter 3. Examples of wiring diagrams using different overvoltage protection principles are given in 2.1.
