In order to ensure that current can be collected from the catenary system, this standard specifies the general characteristics of pantographs used in metro and light rail vehicles. This section also specifies the tests to be carried out on pantographs (excluding insulators). This section does not apply to the dielectric test of the pantograph, which shall be carried out on the pantograph installed on the roof of the vehicle. These regulations may also apply to trams. This section does not apply to main line rolling stock pantographs. See GB/T 21561.1 for main line rolling stock pantographs. This section is related to conventional suspended catenary systems and auxiliary equipment. For rigidly suspended systems (or parts thereof), special considerations need to be made between the user and supplier.
