Scope

This part of GB/T 15969 applies to programmable logic controller (PLC) and its related peripheral equipment, such as programming and debugging tools (PADT), human-machine interface (HMI), etc., which have (according to their intended use requirements) ) control and command of machinery and industrial processes. PLCs and their associated peripherals are to be used in industrial environments and they are available as open or closed units. If the PLC and its associated peripherals are to be used in other environments, the special requirements, standards and installation practices used in those other environments must also apply to the PLC and its associated peripherals. The realization of the functions of the programmable logic controller on the special hardware and software platform can achieve the same satisfactory effect as the realization on the general-purpose computer or personal computer with the characteristics of industrial environment. This section applies to any product that performs the functions of a PLC and/or its associated peripherals. This section does not deal with functional safety or other aspects of the overall automation system. A programmable logic controller (PLC), its application program, and its associated peripherals are all viewed as components of a control system. Since PLC is a component device, the safety considerations of the overall tl automation system (including installation and application) do not belong to the scope of this part. But includes PLC safety against electric shock and fire, against electrical noise, and error detection with respect to PLC system operation (e.g., use of parity checks, self-test diagnostics, etc.). Refer to IEC 60364 or applicable national codes and guidelines for electrical installations. This part of GB/T 15969 gives the definitions of terms used in GB/T 15969. It defines the main functional characteristics of a programmable controller system.
