Scope
This section deals with statistical considerations for determining EMC compliance of batch products. The reasons for considering this statistic are: a) The purpose of reducing interference is to make most qualified products no longer cause interference; b) The limit value of CISPR (International Special Committee on Radio Interference) should not only be suitable for the type approval of a single product, but also Type approval of products suitable for series production; c) statistical techniques must be applied to ensure that products produced in series comply with CISPR standards; d) the understanding of the meaning of the limit values should be the same when applied to each country, which is important to International trade is important; e) National committees of IEC participating in CISPR cooperation should strive to seek recognition from the national authority in which they are located. Therefore, this standard specifies requirements and provides guidance based on statistical techniques. EMC compliance for batch products should be based on the application of statistical techniques that must assure consumers that 80% of products of the type under study comply with emission or immunity requirements with 80% confidence. Chapter 4 gives the general requirements for this so-called 80%/80% criterion. Chapter 5 gives more specific requirements for the application of the 80%/80% criterion to the launch test. Chapter 6 gives guidelines for the application of CISPR 80%/80% guidelines to immunity tests. The 80%/80% criterion protects consumers from receiving non-conforming product, but it does not indicate the probability that a product from a sampled lot will be accepted. This probability of acceptance is very important to the manufacturer. Appendix A, gives more information on the probability of acceptance (manufacturer's risk).
