This Standard sets out guidelines for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of lighting for roads which require Category V lighting complying with AS/NZS 1158.1.1. Performance criteria and installation design requirements for such lighting are specified in AS/NZS 1158.1.1 and should be read in conjunction with the recommendations of this Standard.
The purpose of this Standard is to provide background information and advice to assist in the application of the requirements of AS/NZS 1158.1.1. It also provides guidance on other matters for which it is not possible to specify requirements in a mandatory form.
The Standard does not purport to cover every possible means of ensuring compliance with AS/NZS 1158.1.1.
