Scope: 1.1 This standard specifies the method for determining the carrying capacity of lubricating fluids using a Timken extreme pressure testing machine. This standard is suitable for evaluating the extreme pressure performance of lubricating fluids. 1.2 SI units are used in this standard. However, the equipment used in this standard is in imperial units, therefore, when it comes to test equipment and test pieces, imperial units are retained. 1.3 This standard deals with certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment, but it is not intended to make recommendations on all safety issues related thereto. Therefore, users should establish appropriate safety and protection measures before using this standard, and determine the applicable management system, see Appendix C for details.
