- Scope
- This part of GB/T 2546 specifies the nomenclature system for polypropylene (PP) thermoplastic materials. This system can be used as a basis for classification. The different types of polypropylene thermoplastic materials are distinguished by a classification system based on the values of the following specified characteristic properties and recommended uses and/or processing methods, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcements: a) Tensile modulus of elasticity; b) Charpy notched impact strength; c) Melt mass flow rate (MFR). This section applies to all propylene homopolymers and other propylene copolymers with a mass fraction of 1-olefin monomers less than 50% and copolymers with a mass fraction of the above-mentioned polymers not less than 50%. This standard applies to materials that are conventionally in the form of granules, granules or crumbs, unmodified or modified by colorants, additives, fillers, etc. This section does not imply that materials with the same name must have the same properties. This section does not provide engineering data, performance data, or processing condition data necessary to describe a particular use and/or processing method for the material. If necessary, these additional functions can be determined according to the test methods specified in Part 2 of this standard. Additional requirements may be given in character group 5 in order to specify a particular use of a polypropylene material or to ensure reproducibility of processing.
