Scope: This part of GB/Z 20177 specifies the communication protocol for the control network. The protocol provides peer-to-peer communication for networked control systems to implement peer-to-peer and master-slave control strategies. This section describes the services of layers 2-7. In the Layer 2 (Data Link Layer) specification, the interface of the MAC sublayer to the physical layer is described. The physical layer provides a choice of transmission media. The interfaces described in this clause support multiple transmission media at the physical layer. In the Layer 7 specification, a description of the message types used by the application is included, including the message types used to exchange application data and network management data. This part applies to the design, manufacture, integration, installation and maintenance of automation control systems and products.
