This standard specifies the test methods for electrostatic discharge (ESD) of electronic modules and systems installed in road vehicles, including procedures for evaluating electronic modules in both bench and vehicle states. In addition, this standard also specifies the ESD sensitivity classification test procedures for modules in packaging and handling, the calibration procedure for electrostatic discharge test simulators, and the functional status classification for ESD immunity. This standard applies to all road vehicles, regardless of the drive system it uses (eg spark ignition engine, diesel engine, electric motor).
