This standard applies to motor capacitors (hereinafter referred to as capacitors) connected to the windings of single-phase asynchronous motors with a frequency of 100 Hz and below, and to three-phase asynchronous motors so that these motors can be powered by a single-phase system. These capacitors are impregnated or unimpregnated, have paper, plastic film, or a combination of both as a dielectric, have metallized or metal foil electrodes, and are rated for voltages up to and including 560V. This standard does not apply to electrolytic capacitors. Note: This standard does not apply to the following capacitors: --Self-healing shunt capacitors for AC power systems with rated voltages up to and including 1000V. -- Non-self-healing shunt capacitors for AC power systems with rated voltages up to and including 1000V. --Shunt capacitors for AC power systems with rated voltage above 1000V. --Frequency 40~24000Hz induction heating capacitors. --Series capacitor. --Coupling capacitors and capacitive voltage dividers. -- Power electronic capacitors. -- Small AC capacitors for fluorescent and discharge lamps. -- Capacitors for radio interference suppression. --Capacitors used in and as components of various electrical equipment. -- Capacitors used under AC voltage with superimposed DC voltage.
