Scope
This series of standards provides a file format suitable for storage and transmission of picture description information. This file format consists of an ordered collection of elements that describe pictures in a way that is compatible with systems of different architectures and devices of different capabilities and designs. Described elements provide for representing a variety of pictures on a variety of graphics device fields. Elements are grouped into groups that delimit the main structure (metafile and images), determine the representation used in the metafile, control the display of images, perform basic drawing actions, control properties of the basic drawing actions, and provide Ability to access non-standard devices. Metatext volumes are defined in such a way that access to individual pictures is well defined in addition to sequential access to entire metatext volumes. Which is valid in any system using this standard also depends on the media, encoding and implementation. In addition to functional descriptions, three standard encodings for the syntax of the metafile are specified. These codes meet the requirements of applications that require minimal metafile size, minimum effort for generation and interpretation, and maximum flexibility. This standard also describes the formal grammar format. The other three parts of this series of standards describe three standardized encodings that follow this grammar: the second part describes character encoding, and within the scope of the complete encoding system, it follows the code extension described in GB2311 to describe binary encoding; the third part describes Binary encoding is described; Section IV describes clear text encoding.
