Scope
1.1 This specification covers the requirements for nonaqueous engine coolants used in automobiles or other lightduty service cooling systems. Non-aqueous coolants that conform to the specification will function effectively to provide protection against freezing, boiling, and corrosion without any further dilution. This specification is based upon the knowledge of the performance of non-aqueous engine coolants prepared from new individual or mixtures of virgin industrial grade diols. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. See X1.4 for a specific warning statement.
