Scope
Scope 1.1 Purpose 1.1.1 This standard defines the minimum requirements and contains recommendations relating to the protection of people in environments where welding, cutting and related processes are carried out and of material property when installation, use and maintenance of the equipment used for this work. 1.1.2 This standard lays the foundation for a welding health and safety program (see Chapter 3) designed to meet the requirements set out in clause 1.1.1. 1.2 Scope 1.2.1 This standard is aimed at any person who works in an environment where welding, cutting and related processes are carried out. 1.2.2 The requirements defined in this standard apply to the processes listed in the table in Appendix A). 1.3 Exclusions 1.3.1 This standard does not apply to the design or manufacture of welding equipment and protective equipment. 1.3.2 The requirements defined by this standard do not apply to the following categories of works: a) building piping; b) protection works for gas and oil pipelines; c) welding circuit equipment; d) gas distribution networks; or e) electrical building equipment.
